Leaving Qualicum

A Qualicum sunset

Sept 20, 2011

Great News!  Due to the inordinate amount of tears produced as I said my goodbyes to mom, Winnie, and Purdy, I have deducted that I am indeed not a psychopath as previously thought.  We left home around 1:30 and went to bid grandma goodbye; she waved like the Queen and that is the closest to tears I have ever seen her.  We went to the airport where we checked in our two beasts of bags (they were suitcases but I was going for alliteration).  I was called over the intercom to go and open my suitcase for the officials so they could swab it for chemicals.  Later, I was taken to the station for questioning - kidding - later, we said goodbye to dad as we waited for our flight.  I realized that I didn't have my glasses - great start great start.  Took the puddle hopper over to Vancouver to the YVR (anyone know what this stands for? Google doesn't) and I was sad to say goodbye to the WMA hopper with its roguishly attractive second mate.

My sister's jewelry box collapsed and she lost an earring and I still couldn't remember packing my glasses.  Called mom to inform her of our status and then C and I found our respective earrings and glasses.  Yay!  Picked up some bananas and maple syrup and refrained from getting Timbits (did I mention that earlier in the day C rejected my plea for an icecap but offered me an almond ball - I am allergic to almonds.  Thanks sis- you really got my back.  We boarded the plane and much to my chagrin my sound wasn't working so I switched with C, who opted to read 'The Art of War.'

I watched Thor (thank you for taking off your shirt Chris Hemsworth) and enjoyed a chicken/rice dinner with a little veggie cup and a lovely vinegar sauce.  I'll leave out how I may or may not have taken a bite or two out of the brownie.  Meanwhile, the Northern Scottish folk beside me downed copious amounts of whiskey, tea, and coffee.  I tried to sleep but resorted to watching Rio and listening to the country channel.  I missed the last twenty minutes of Rio and was I sad?  not particularly, although now that I think about it I may have made it to the end because the Macaws made it back to the wild...  hmm
