After having Christmas in Lillianes it was time for a day in Torino. Also called Turin, the city was originally a Roman military camp founded around 28BC.
Before we left we ate pasta with the ragu sauce we had made the day before and of course, there was also bread and cheeses! Some of the family members had recently travelled to Uzbekistan and were kind enough to show us their photos. All the while we were munching on chocolaty Nanaimo Bar, which my sister and I had made for the family.

When we returned to Lillianes we went for drinks at a local bar, where many of the townspeople had already congregated for dinner after their game of Routta. They play it every year and it's similar to bocce ball except each time a new person has their turn they have to think of a new way to hit the ball. For example, a person might hang upside down from a tree branch and hit the ball and then everyone else must do it this way as well! Today, the game took four hours. There was a deck of cards on the table and my sister started shuffling them bridge style and this proved to be our entertainment for part of the night as it seemed that only she and I knew how to do this. The others at the table then had to learn and their earnest attempts were very amusing!
After the bar we went back to our friend's house, ate tiramisu and Nanaimo Bar, and watched some Alias!
